New Beginnings

Well, as I sit on the couch, blanket on lap, laptop on my side, and start to type, I wonder. I wonder how our near future will unfold. I can't deny it any longer and I can't keep procrastinating. Our little boy will move upstairs to sleep in his big boy room. Now, I know what many of you are thinking. Not a big deal and wasn't this suppose to have happened at the start of the summer vacay?. I...I mean, HE...yes, Brayden picked the theme for his room back in January or February. We purchased his bedding in April. We bought accents and decor in May. I personally, went to Home Depot and picked out the beautiful Ralph Lauren paint (suggested by my dear designer friend) in June. The room is painted! (I can't imagine what my friends who have actually seen all these fun patterns, colors, textures, and accessories are thinking right now). Oh! I forgot, I also spray painted baskets and lined them with with fabric. I also spray painted letters, and painted a bookshelf. The best part is, I have one or two extraordinary things planned that I know Brayden will just love! So what's the deal you ask?

Honestly, we did drop the ball so to speak. We dragged our feet and just haven't been super motivated to pull it all together. I don't regret it really though. We've just enjoyed this summer vacay...or should I say, "staycay" since we didn't travel at all (with the exception of Nealy). It's been GREAT! We've been totally enjoying the day to day "simples" of summer. Hence, The Big Boy's room not completed. Defeated? Not exactly. Just yesterday I had a revelation! Is it possible I wanted to keep my sweet boy just a bit longer? He's co-slept since he was born. (My excuse... I nursed for just under a year and we have a king...so it's not like we are squished). It worked for us..we still make it work. He's happy. We're happy. However, just recently I have woken up to a kick to the ribs or tiny toes just under my chin (gently pushing up on the fatty part). He also has Nealy up there who is willing to let him snuggle with her on "tough" nights. So yeah, I would say it's time for him to sleep in his own bed and in his own room. I'm not going to lie, I am going to miss waking up to him snuggling close and grabbing my arm to cuddle him. I am going to miss that sweet lavender smell of his hair, and innocence in his face when he dozes off to sleep. AND, believe it or not, I am going to miss the kicks and the nudges too!

The plan? To have it completed before we start school. We'll start the transition then since we we'll have other transitions and new beginnings to look forward to. Here's the list:

1.The one I've gone on and on about... Brayden's big boy room

2. Nealy starting middle school

3. Scott graduating from graduate school

It's an exciting time anticipating these new beginnings. I'll definitely post pics of THE room in a couple of weeks (...give a little). We need to make a few purchases and finish a project for his room. Of course there's that waiting time for delivery....anyway, stay tuned! I am SO excited and even MORE excited that I know Brayden will be so happy to finally see it!

Now...here's my sleeping boy after playing a little game
on the computer. I just walked in the office and this is
what I saw. Ahem....so sweet!

I seriously don't know how he managed to doze off in an office chair.

He didn't peel one eye when we finally moved him.

Awe, I just LOVE him...I can't say it enough.

Just so you know, these red and yellow pj's inspired me
to scrap my new blog layout. Cute huh?

If you are ready then you go ahead. If you are not ready then do it when you are ready. There is no rush. We only get about 18 years with our children in our home. I am afraid our society pushes us to make kids grow up to fast. Cherish theses moments. You will know the moment when it is right for your family.
Those photos are sweet.
I have one like that of Hunter http://motheroftwowifeofone.blogspot.com/2007/07/you-know-they-are-pooped-when.html

Remember how long Nealy slept with you??? She turned out just fine...
so keep Brayden as long as you want in your bed. I can't wait to see pictures of his new room!
