"Toe"tally Terrible!

So the story begins! Several weeks ago a kindergarten cutie stepped...let me rephrase....stepped and spun out on my left big toe! OUCH! Aah! The pain was unbearable. As I was standing frozen with pain in the cafeteria, I looked down, to see bright red blood dripping and sliding down my toe. The fury that ran through me is indescribable. (It felt kinda like the anger one might feel when their hair is pulled unexpectedly). I kindly knelt down (keeping my feet and the rest of my body still) and said, "sweetie you MUST watch where you are going." I am proud of how I reacted. I really felt like ferociously shaking the life out of the child. The poor kid looked down and I most definitely saw remorse in his face....surely that is what I saw. Now thinking back, I am hoping it wasn't just a look of disgust as he was witnessing Mrs. England's toe gushing blood all over the place. All this happened the day before our school's open house. Needless to say, I was sporting some NOT so sassy shoes as I welcomed parents into my room the night of open house.

Here IT is!
To bring you up to date, this toe of mine has not been healing so well. In fact, last week another student bumped it again. Double OUCH! If it wasn't already wounded, it would not have been a big deal. Oh it was a big deal alright! On I go, living the life-style of an eighty year old walking slowly and being very cautious and aware of my surroundings. (BTW: I have nothing against eighty year old people...it's just I like to think of myself as young and full of life...that's all). To tell you the truth, I DON'T live a life-style that allows me to do this and constantly keep my toe protected 24/7. It's frustrating. It's miserable. I can't even wear my cute wedges....so flip-flops, I must embrace ...even when I am wearing a cute outfit! Geeze....the agony and torment! Okay, I realize I am carrying on and 'the princess' within is shining through. Honestly, it is a little disabling.

This is how I sport IT!
Well! This past Sunday as my honey and I are on a cleaning rampage, I manage to slice...yeah SLICE my toe in the exact spot of the wound. How did this happen you ask? Well, I was moving Brayden's highchair around (it has wheels for easy moving). As I turn my sweet baby boy around so that he can watch the excitement of me sweeping the kitchen floor..........IT happens! The little lever that allows for the brakes to work is what did it. AND wow! Scott heard me wail over the vacuum cleaner. He ran to my rescue. Poor Brayden didn't know what was going on. Fortunately my wails of pain didn't frighten him. Scott literally carried me to the kitchen table. I looked down to see that once again my toe is dripping bright red liquid all over the tile floor. (Thank goodness our grout is sealed). There was a splatter about every 6 to 8 inches. I cried. I admit it. What is a girl to do? I can't wear closed toe shoes due to a granulation of some sort that has grown (maybe seeped from the original slice) on my toe. It truly seems like the guts of my toe have come out and are just hanging out, tagging along for the ride. Should I wear a couple sizes too big steal toe shoe? Seriously. I have to look at this situation in it's totality. I have really received the raw end of the deal. No fair I say!
Come Tuesday April 22nd I will have surgery....yeah let me repeat it...surgery! The granulation thingy will be removed and a little more "toe guts" and then my toe will be sutured up. I am so dreading this surgical procedure that must be performed on my poor, well manicured toe! Again, no fair! However, I must confess I get a little....a TINY bit of comfort knowing I will be free of the protruding thing at the end of my toe and I just want it to heal so I can get on with my life.

I guess my venting session has come to an end. Family, friends, and readers...please say a little prayer for me Tuesday. I will keep you posted. Have a great end of the week.

OUCH! Gosh, I really had to keep closing my eyes as I was reading. Sounds gross and painful and I am so happy you get to have it taken care of once and for all.

I hope Tuesday is quick and painless!
